Victor Aspey
My journey into the marine industry began with a BSc (Hons) in Maritime Studies, specializing in Leisure Boating, and growing up in a boat-loving family. Early on, I found myself in Marine Insurance in the City of London, but city life and the daily grind of commuting weren’t for me. I soon transitioned into a sailing instructor role, which set the stage for a deeper passion for boating, particularly catamarans.
After skippering a trans-Atlantic catamaran through the well-documented storm of October 1987, I founded my first business, chartering and selling modern sailing catamarans—a venture I sold and am proud to say continues to flourish. I then joined a prestigious sailboat brand as a Sales Director but left to pursue my passion for marine products, which led to starting my own business selling a variety of marine products.
In 2008, I found my next focus—PVC Synthetic Teak decking. I hired someone to produce panels in my garage, quickly expanding the operation to dedicated premises. By 2018, I had established a distribution company focused on marine flooring and decking products. I recognized the need for more control over quality and began investing in tooling and partnering with a UK-based PVC factory, where we began producing decking materials to our own specifications.
Deckfab and Beautiful Marine Floors emerged as brands committed to delivering a seamless, high-quality experience. From raw material sourcing to deck fabrication and fitting, we set a new standard for the marine industry, combining precision, durability, and aesthetic excellence.
In 2024, we launched TeekTrue, a material designed to push the boundaries of what decking materials can offer. The introduction of TeekTrue is part of our ongoing effort to innovate and provide solutions that meet the demands of modern boatbuilders and boat owners alike. The TeekTrue product line has added a new dimension to our offering, continuing to focus on performance, longevity, and aesthetics. We aim to lead the market with products that don’t just meet, but exceed the expectations of our clients.
Room for Growth:
As we look to the future, our focus is on expanding the reach of TeekTrue, Deckfab, and Beautiful Marine Floors to a global audience. We are committed to refining our manufacturing processes and expanding our partnerships with boatyards, deckmakers, and fitters worldwide. While we’ve made great strides in ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction, there’s always room to improve in terms of innovation, environmental impact, and providing more customised solutions for our clients. We will continue to invest in new technologies, streamline our operations, and explore new materials to further enhance our product offerings.
“Why are boat cockpits so boring, or require so much maintenance?” This question led to the creation of Deckfab and Beautiful Marine Floors, and later TeekTrue, all designed to make life easier and more enjoyable for boat owners, with less maintenance and longer-lasting, more beautiful decks.
We are constantly evolving and are excited about what the future holds as we continue to innovate, grow, and deliver the best decking solutions for boatbuilders and owners around the world.
