Teektrue Rubber Synthetic Teak

Edging

Nitrile Rubber synthetic teak lends itself to a lot of possibilities in its method of use. Like PVC synthetic teak it is a roll product 5mm thick and 50mm wide and 4m long that can be used to fabricate edges for traditional swept decks. It is often fitted on site with a 5mm caulking channel between planks which is later caulked in the traditional way.

Key Features

Rubber synthetic teak decks are fitted on boat cockpits, bathing platforms as well as side decks and offer an attractive alternative to pvc. They are particularly suited to hotter climates although they will require periodic maintenance with the application of a sealant to give added protection against UV and the rubber fading to a dull grey colour.  The advantages of rubber synthetic teak are

  • Virtually maintenance free
    – can be jet washed
  • Manufactured from synthetic rubber granules and other materials
  • Stain resistant
  • Cool to walk on in hotter climate
  • Non-slip surface
    – slip resistance
  • Abrasion resistance
  • Weathering resistant
  • Easy to work with sheet material including CNC
  • Five-year material guarantees

Maintenance

Nitrile rubber tends to grey an UV and customs may prefer to coat the deck annually to maintain its synthetic teak colouration. The deck can be sanded to remove and surface staining and is easily repairable should it become damaged.
